The Lady Palm (Rhapis)

rhapis lady palm

This fan palm is a native of China, and is common in many Thailand landscapes, rural and urban. It grows in batches, with multiple fan-shaped leaves. Rhapis does well in shade and darker regions, and so is a great accompaniment in otherwise 'difficult-to-grow' garden areas. It is also a very popular and prolific indoor palm. Although capable of growth of up to 2-3 metres, it is more often seen as low lying foliage in street gardens, mall gardens and within Thai resorts.
