Creating shade in your home in Thailand is always desirable. This recent pergola installation was part of a larger garden overhaul for a Hua Hin expat, which included new planting and new grass lawn, plus a revamp of a large pond and waterfall (more in later posts).
The pergola was to stretch the full length of the main building, plus around the corner of the house, to give complete shade and cover from the elements.
Thick, spaced, wooden columns act as the main support, with beams and rafters attached to give the great ornamental look. FInally, a polycarbon roofing material is laid over the top and attached, giving shade and protection from the rain and sun.
Its now easy for the homeowner and his family to walk around the house at all times with complete protection, and even during periods of heavy rainfaill its possible to remain outside. Electrical installation can also come as part of any pergola package, with lighting, fans and speakers all optional.
Pergola's offer a great, good looking way to create shade around your home, much more attractive and visually appealing than vinyl or plastic awnings. They are an excellent addition to any Thai garden.
