Famous Gardens in Thailand – Khao Sok National Park

Tropical_landscapes More a famous 'National Park stroke rainforest' than gardens, but home to some spectacular natural bio-diversity, the Khao Sok National Park is located in Southern Thailand, covering a total area of 739 square kilometres, it is
spread across both sides of the central mountain range on the Thai-Malay
peninsula, lying midway between Phuket Island and Koh Samui, two of Southern Thailand’s most popular tourist destinations.

Driving to the park, visitors will find themselves surrounded on all sides by huge limestone mountain peaks that reach hundreds of metres into
the air. The park is also home to the largest area of virgin forest in Southern Thailand, thought to be older and more diverse than even the rain forests of the Amazon.

This stunning beauty and biodiversity is the result of Khao Sok’s
fortunate geography – storms sweep in from both the Andaman Sea and the Gulf
of Thailand, resulting in the National park being recorded as officially the wettest place in all of Thailand, with some 3,500 mm of annual rain.

As a tourist destination, the Park offers a host of activities
including elephant trekking, hiking through the ancient forests, canoeing, extensive bird watching tours, and various jeep safaris.

The park is home to one of the richest bio-diverse landscapes in the world, and includes
some very exclusive and endangered plant species. One example is the world's largest known flower, the Bua Phut, which grows blossoms in excess of 80 cm in diameter.

Those who visit Thailand and are interested in natural history, geography and tropical life and diversity should definitely spend 2 or 3 days at the Khao Sok National Park, Thailand.
