Thai Garden Design joined this build a few months before due completion date. The owners were beginning to think about the garden details after they had coordinated the main house build and details. Thai Garden Design presented a selection of options and ideas over a period of time, with designs in 2D and 3D.
(Picture above: The sala is proposed at the back, alongside the pool) One of the ideas was to build a place to relax on top of a large concrete water tank at one of of the swimming pool. The tank itself was pretty unsightly, so to convert it into something useful as well as hide it would kill two birds with one stone!
(Picture above: Garden has been filled and cleaned, with the team beginning work on the sala) The design and details for the sala were agreed and team began to build the sala. The main details were that it was to have a conwood deck floor (with connecting deck to the main house), steps down from the sala, and a landing deck leading up to the swimming pool, a nearby terrace and tropical garden, all electrical included, an enclosing bench on two sides, and a large fan.
The team also designed and planted a low maintenance planting scheme around the sala, to screen it from other areas, increase privacy, and create a 'tropical Bali feel' that the owners were comfortable with.
(Picture above: Al selection of ladypalms, cordylines, hedge plants, ferns and cuban cigar plants really add up to create the tropical feel of the garden) The finished sala is surrounded in tropical plants, feels private, and is a great place to relax just before going for a dip. A garden terrace with tropical garden is also just a few steps down from the main sala (see picture below).
