In the second half of 2024, Thai Garden Design worked with ACG Capsules, Rayong, to Design and Execute a new Wonderful and sophisticated Landscape of mature palms, hedge rows and a sprinkler system across the 10 Rai site.. All within an ambitious timeline of just 2 months! This is Factory Landscaping in Rayong Thailand, 101 !
With presence in 138 countries on five continents, ACG is one of the world’s largest fully integrated supplier and service provider to solid drug manufacturers, offering hard-shell capsules, barrier packaging solutions, track and trace systems, as well as processing, packaging and vision inspection equipment.

Their arrival in Rayong, Thailand, saw them construct a large factory Covering more than 175,000 sqm, the facility will employ 250 people and have an annual production capacity of 20 billion units.

Thai Garden Design joined ACG in July 2024, to help design an attractive landscaped garden of mature trees and palms, plus extensive hedging around the perimeter and extensive car park area.

To create the impressive and modern feel, Thai Garden Design included a good number of mature foliage trees and palms, including: Blackboard Trees, Wax Palms, Bismarck Palms, Java Palms, Foxtail Palms, large Indian Oak trees ! and over 2000 Ficus hedges and also some bright red lipstick palms and 200 Australian brush trees, to decorate the areas closer to the entrance and matching nicely with the ACG colour scheme. In total, the agreement included over 200 trees, to be planted in the main garden at the front of the factory, viewable from the road side and giving an impressive landscape befitting of this ACG premises.

Once design and details were fixed, ACG were concerned to get everything installed and planted in time for their grand opening in early December 2024. This mean our team were on a 2 month deadline, which as this was to include a automatic sprinkler system spanning the entire grounds, this was an ambitious timeline.

All trees were delivered to the site over a one week period, with the on site design team placing them quickly so as not to waste any time. Hedges were positioned and approved by the ACG team. Because the landscape plan had been approved in the early stages, this was largely followed! But! Our design team did make real time changes to ensure the garden and the trees really did look their best in the final layout.
Consideration also needed to be taken with water consumption by the sprinkler system Housed in their large utility block, the sprinkler was to take water from the main water tanks of the factory. The team needed to ensure that the water tanks would not run dry, and so a valve was installed that meant that this couldn’t happen. In total each cycle would use a total of around 15,000 Liters of water! Showing just how large this site is.

The team oversaw the planting of the larger trees using several mobile cranes, driving across the expanses of lawn areas and digging in and planting these large trees and palms. It was quite a site to see as the garden began to take shape.

All in all, the trees, hedges and sprinkler system were all completed within 4 weeks, even the team at ACG could not believe how fast our team were able to execute the project.

We even included extras like improving the existing lawn and de-weeding everything, so that when the company directors arrived for an inspection, they were pleased with the aesthetic and attractive garden, more like a resort than a factory!

The timing of the job was also a key to the overall success, as we were planting in October and November, the tail end of the rain season and indeed a cooling period away from the Thai summer heat. This meant regular rains helped all the trees to bed in well, whilst the sprinkler system was not ready.

Once all planting was finalized, Thai Garden Design agreed to maintain the landscape for a period of 60 days, ensuring all nutrition and water requirements of the trees and hedges were optimum. Everything survived, and thrived.
Finally, the team designed and installed a decorative entrance garden to really give a wow factor to workers and visitors to the site, a collection of Song of India, cigar palms and ferns were a real favorite of the company directors.
