The Melampodium, otherwise known as the 'Butter Daisy', is instantly noticeable for its handsome yellow flowers, contrasting nicely with the bright green foliage which makes up the vast majority of the plant. They are a versatile ground cover; a good alternative to grass which can be used across large expanses of landscape.
Melampodium prefer tropical climes and good sun exposure for the yellow flowers to bloom, and substantial watering, although they are fairly drought and heat resistant when established.
They prolifically reseed by themselves and so are a colourful, robust, low maintenance plant all year round.
