The Thai Garden Design team just recently installed this 'Indiana Jones' jungle style landscape, complete with hardwood bridge, two Thai sala's, rock edging and two layered cascading waterfalls for a client in the heart of Pattaya, Chonburi.
Originally a modern swimming pool garden, the owner wanted to transform the space into somewhere unique and original, a place that he could relax and dine with friends. The idea was to transform this 'run of the mill' swimming pool into a vibrant tropical fish pond, with a fitting landscape to finish the job…
The concept design was a 'wild jungle landscape', composing mainly of all natural materials in the form of 'rickety' woodwork, natural rock compositions across the edges of the pool and back walls, and tropical planting throughout.
Picture above: Existing ornaments and features were utilized in the new design – in this case, a Thai statuette was incorporated into the new rock wall, to great effect.
Two large mirrors were installed on the main back wall (picture, top right) , with natural rock pieces attached in a random fashion to completely transform the look of the courtyard and frame the mirrors.
A hardwood bridge was constructed using large circular columns, the bridge stretches the length of the new fish pond, and connects to a relaxation sala, also raised above the pond. An 'old wood' effect was the goal, and rope railings add to the overall theme.
Finally, picture above, a central feature of the new rock wall is another water feature, in which water spills down from the top of the feature, into the pond below, with the black mirrors on either side.
