Adding Wheelchair Access and Low Maintenance Beauty to Expat Garden in Hua Hin

Thai Garden Design just recently finished installation at this newly built Expat home in the mountains of Hua Hin. The owners worked away in Singapore, and owned the house as a holiday home. One of the main requirements was a solid pathway, at least 1.0 m in width, for good wheelchair access for when Grandma came to stay at the house. The team agreed the shape, colour and look of the pathway via a garden design, which was developed and tweaked over email. Plants and the rock garden designs for around the sides and back of the home were also included in the plan.

Before, the back and sides of the house were poorly laid, patchy grass, with some unimaginative pebble and rock patterns. The team set about to use more colour, in combination with low maintenance, exotic tropical planting and grasses.

Now these areas that border the outside terraces are attractive both in day time and night time. Different stepping stone pavers mean these areas are easily accessible, and all ugly manholes and utility pipes are covered, out of sight.

The job was completed whilst the owners were out of the country, on a specified date, within time and on budget. Photos were regularly emailed to update the owners. They were very happy with the final results. If you have a garden project in Thailand or Asia, contact Thai Garden Design for more information.
