Thai Garden Design recently assisted an exciting new Italian restaurant in the Sathorn area of Bangkok to improve their front garden. The welcoming terrace of the plot benefits from a large Monkeypod tree in it’s courtyard which offers welcome shade, but due to it’s size this majestic tree also blocks the required light needed for different plants and grasses to grow. The restaurant owners had tried a number of tough grasses, but were tiring of the constant patching and maintenance issues. Thai Garden Design recommended a nice artificial grass, which after serious debate was chosen as the favoured option.
It was the right choice. The owners had obtained two other quotations that didn’t specify a drainage course, or a border with which to attach the grass. Because the Thai Garden Design team have installed many different artificial lawns, we knew the pitfalls and therefore recommended an installation that would not only look good, but would provide the owners with longevity.
The team cleverly cut around the base of the existing courtyard tree to ensure the end finish of the lawn looks natural and real. A lesser job would only mean the rest of the lawn looked unrealistic, but due to the carefulness of the installation, the lawn not only looks natural, it is maintenance free and won’t go patchy or get waterlogged during the rainy season.
