Tropical Almond (Terminalia catappa) can grow to 35m and it's large leaves provide excellent shade. Named after the seed of it's fruit, which tastes like almonds. Terminalia ivorensis is a large deciduous forest tree ranging in height from 15 to 46 m, branchless for up to 30 m. Likes well-drained soils. Spathodea campanulata, commonly known as the African Tulip Tree, grows between 7–25m tall and is popular as an ornamental tree due to its very showy reddish-orange or crimson flowers. These hold rain and dew, making them attractive to many species of birds.

Pong Pong trees (Cerbera odollam) provide good shade with their heavy foliage made up of large ovoid leaves and small white flowers. The Calabash tree (Crescentia cujete) grow to about 10m and are famed for producing large spherical fruits that are used in medicine. A classic ornamental plant, the Royal Palm (Roystonea regia) is used around the world in gardens and public places. Growing to 30m, it is THE palm tree.

Plumeria, also known as Frangipani, is a very popular ornamental tree due to its beautiful flowers and strong fragrance at night. Thrives in strong sunlight. The Lipstick Palm (a.k.a Red Sealing Wax Palm) is a stunningly attractive feathery palm with a vivid red smooth trunk. It is an extremely popular addition within holiday resorts and hotel garden landscapes simply for it's great colour and and height, growing to around 6m. Thrives in Thailand due to it's love of wet conditions, the Macarthur Palm (Ptychosperma macarthurii) with its red fruit and feather-shaped fronds is a favourite throughout the kingdom.<

Growing to 2m Dracaena (Dracaena loureiri gagnep) is a popular plant for use near walls where it's sharp, spearhead leaves help break up backdrops. Very resistant to pests, soil conditions and low water levels. Fuji Fan Palms (Pritchardia pacifica), so named after the use their leaves were put to, grow great spreads of wide, attractive leaves. Prefer some shade as direct sunlight can bleach. Popular for its striking, colourful flowers, the Orchid tree (Bauhinia variegata) gives a wonderful scent and can attract birds of various sorts. Grows up to 12m.
