A native of Mexico, this slightly fragile plant (it's brittle branches can break easily) is a brilliant purple colour, making it an instant 'statement' plant, especially when grouped across large curved beds, around the corners of buildings, or in clusters as part of a larger planting plan.
The Purple Heart prefers well drained soil, and full sunshine will bring out its full vivid colour. Clipping it back occasionally will encourage the Tradescantia pallida to thrive and become bushier.
