Thai Garden Design recently visited an Expat based in Pattaya, who was wanting to install a timber deck around his pool. A previous deck had been removed, revealing the concrete underneath and the garden looked worse for wear.
The team advised on appropriate wood for the job, one that would stand the test of time, and which could be varnished to the owners taste (a dark reddish brown, to go with the colour scheme of the bali style house).
The deck supports were raised to the pool level, approximately 20cm, and covered around 35sqm of ground. The owner also wanted the team to build an attractive panelled wall at one end of the garden, to mask an ugly concrete wall, plus a pergola at the entrance doorway, so this could offer somewhere to sit in the shade at all times.
The finished pool deck is a joy to behold and a complete transformation from the previous garden. The colour of the deck contrasts beautifully with the pool, ensuring that the space is usable again, plus the owner has the peace of mind that the wood is brand new, strong enough to take the Thai climate.
The expat had also asked for a quote from the other large deck specialist in Pattaya, and Thai Garden Design came in at 100,000 THB under their quote!
