The Thai Garden Design team recently designed and installed this combination Thai sala and waterfall pond at the home of a long-term expat in Bangkok.
At first the basic shape of the pond is agreed and the dig begins.
Once the basic shell complete, the team can move onto the sala foundations and other details.
Foundation slab and columns in place, the team then moves onto the roofwork.
The new sala comes with it's own guttering, which deals with runoff straight into the pond (the pond has it's own overflow also). Lights, fans and the switch for the waterfall pump are all located on the same column, and bench seating on the far side is a welcoming place to sit and watch the waterfall. The sala is big enough to host dinner parties and have outdoor social gatherings, sheltered from the harsh sun.
And last, but by no means least, the nice view of the water from inside the sala; illuminated during evening times, and the perfect place to house fish and other wildlife.
