This latest project saw the Thai Garden Design team tackle the improvement of a family home garden at a modern residence in Central Bangkok. The modern home is a corner plot with lots of potential, and the family were interested in spending more time outside.
After design discussions and planning, the team were fixed and moved in. The main feature of the garden would be a natural rock waterfall, and small pond, nestled in the corner of the plot. This would be the main attraction, with seating areas close by.
The rest of the garden was very much designed with ‘low maintenance’ as the intent, as the working couple require more time to enjoy the garden, rather than maintaining it. The entire plant selection was chosen around this theme. Troublesome trees were removed, with good existing ones pruned and left, to complement the new design.
Large natural stones, keeping in with the waterfall, were used as large stepping stones, with more modern pavers employed towards the front of the garden.
Two large composite wood planters were constructed close by the the kitchen, so Mum is easily able to access herbs and kitchen friendly plants. Both planters were lined with HDPE liner, and planted with a mix of rosemary, basil, lemon grass, mint, and others.
This garden is a complete transformation, and one that the family are very happy with. The end results are a far cry from the previous garden, and will ensure this Bangkok family venture into the garden far more often.
